Hi Copper Cowboys,
This is a quick newsletter to get everyone up to date on club happenings.  Mother nature gave us a rough start to the gymkhana season, twice raining out our first event of the year.  We tried our best to inform everyone, and apologize for any inconvenience to anybody.  Here is a quick rundown on this years events.

Gymkhana Ground Rules Print E-mail

1) Each gymkhana will start with the Pledge of Allegiance or National Anthem.

2) A safety zone will be designated at each gymkhana (with cones, must keep horses back 10 feet).

3) All club members and contestants (with the exception of officials) will keep the arena/area clear when others are competing.

4) Timer will be an adult member. Contestants will be disqualified by the Arena Director only for violation of event rules. The Arena Director will make final decisions on all issues of disqualifications.

5) Re-rides can be given by Arena Director for:
a) Act of God.
b) Faulty arena equipment.
c) At the discretion of the Arena Director and other officer.

6) Reasons for disqualification:
a) The intentional striking of the horse with anything in front of the saddle.
b) Breaking pattern for event being run.
c) Officers of the club may disqualify a member/contestant for conduct detrimental to the best interest of the club or its events.
d) Gate must be closed prior to starting your ride.
e) Crossing over the finish line prior to the race being completed (breaking the pattern) will be an automatic disqualification.
f) Arena Director and one other official may disqualify any horse due to unsoundness of said horse or of such disposition as to endanger other rider or horse.
g) A contestant must be ready to enter the arena and ride when he or she is called or by completion of the event being ridden or be disqualified from that event.

7) Contestants can register a complaint by contacting the officials or officers of the club.

8) Each contestant must fill out an entry form. Late entries will be accepted for the following event. Late entries will not be accepted for the event currently being run.

9) A list of twenty-two (22) events will be drawn up. Four of these events will be standard at each gymkhana and two events will be rotated with total of six events at each gymkhana.

10) All events will be run in five age groups:
a) Super seniors 40 years and over.
b) Seniors 19 through 39.
c) Juniors 15 through 18.
d) Wranglers 12 through 14.
e) Cowpokes 11 and under.
A member/contestant shall have the right to advance to another group that is older but once action is taken he or she may not return to a younger class; advance should be declared prior to first gymkhana.

11) The same animal may be used by more than one contestant, in any event or age group.

12) No member or contestant will hold the club or any of its members responsible for injuries occurring when participating in a club event.

13) In case of an emergency situation dealing with an injury, the announcer shall announce that everyone clear the arena except the timer and flag person and next of kin. The timer or flag person will handle the situation until designated personnel arrives.

14) No stallions will be allowed in or around the arena area.

15) For your safety, boots and jeans are required if riding.

16) The AQHA rule book will govern any rules not covered in this by-law.

Border Wars Print E-mail

Border Wars - We have been asked to  participate in a long term, fun, fund raising event with two other riding clubs, Colorado Rodeo & Gymkhana Club and Comanche Crossing Horseman’s Association.  This will be a yearly horse show /gymkhana event between all three clubs, with all clubs competing to see who is the best in the west!  This years event will be held May 30th at the Quint Valley Arena in Beyers, Colorado.
