Hi Copper Cowboys,
This is a quick newsletter to get everyone up to date on club happenings.  Mother nature gave us a rough start to the gymkhana season, twice raining out our first event of the year.  We tried our best to inform everyone, and apologize for any inconvenience to anybody.  Here is a quick rundown on this years events.

Gymkhanas - The gymkhanas for the rest of the year will be held as scheduled. The dates being, Sunday May 31, Sunday June 28, Sunday July 26, Sunday August 23, and September 27, 2009.  They will all be held in the Jefferson County Rodeo arena, with the exception of the June 28 event which will be held in the Events Center (indoor arena).  We are working on planning a make-up event for our first gymkhana.  Information on that event will be posted and announced at future gymkhanas and on our website.

Parade Team - Several members have expressed an interest in forming a parade team to participate in local parades.  A sign up sheet will be at the first gymkhana.  We will also be looking for a member who wishes to organize this group, this will be a non officer board member position.  When we have  information, such as who is the leader and where to call for more information, we will post it on our website.

Border Wars - We have been asked to  participate in a long term, fun, fund raising event with two other riding clubs, Colorado Rodeo & Gymkhana Club and Comanche Crossing Horseman’s Association.  This will be a yearly horse show /gymkhana event between all three clubs, with all clubs competing to see who is the best in the west!  This years event will be held May 30th at the Quint Valley Arena in Beyers, Colorado.
There will be a morning horse show session consisting of four horse show classes, that the other two clubs will compete in and the winner will win the Border Wars Horse Show traveling trophy.
The afternoon session will start at 1:00, and will consist of four gymkhana events   The team with the highest pro rated accumulation of points will be the winner of the Border Wars Gymkhana traveling trophy.  The divisions  will be leadline, 8 & under pee wee, 9-13, 14-18, 19-45, 46 and over, the events will be barrels, flags, poles and keyhole.  All participants must be a member of one of the clubs, and declare membership at the time of registration.  Membership forms will be available at the event, on our website and in this letter.

Volunteers - We are in desperate need of volunteers for every gymkhana.  Please let me know when you are available to help with arena work, timing, office work, or as a gate person.  Remember that all members must contribute volunteer time at each gymkhana in order to qualilify for year end awards.
